Article Title: Sales of Coverlets Support Montpelier HistoryEdition: August 2000Category: General Interest Author: Judy Greenwald Article: The Montpelier Historical Society has developed a coverlet or throw to help raise money for the four year old organization. Woven into the design in the 4 x 6 coverlet are many of Montpeliers historical landmarks: Kellogg-Hubbard Library, city hall, the Washington County Court House, the State House, College Hall, the Pavilion, and the Hubbard Park Tower. "Its the perfect Christmas gift," said boarrdmember Joanne Henderson. The society has sold 200 coverlets and has another 225 on order. They cost $45. The society was founded with 28 Montpelierites and has grown now to 100 members. The purpose of the group is to preserve Montpelier history and by collecting, cataloging, sotring and eventually displaying local memorabilia like furniture, antiques, letters, photos and papers. The eventual goal is to have permanent housing for the items and have them available for viewing. The coverlets, which are green and white with fringe, are available at First Impressions on State Street and at Main Street News, on Main Street. You have reached the end of the article.
