An Invitation to the Montpelier Community

Its school budget preparation time, and the Board of School Commissioners and school district administrative staff welcome input from the community into the earliest stages of the budget development process.

ALL community members are invited to participate in the budget development process. You do not need to be a parent, nor do you need to have a child attending a specific school to participate in the budget discussions being facilitated by each schools principal and/or by the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners.

Below you will find the dates of important budget preparation events that you may like to participate at. If you prefer not to attend any meeting, you may contact any of the districts principals either in writing or over the telephone to share your thoughts. You may also contact the superintendent or any school commissioner to share your thoughts too. Telephone numbers can be found at the bottom of this page.

All community members are welcome to attend and contribute to any of these meetings

Wednesday, November 1 - Discussion concerning Main Street Middle School Reorganization. Regular meeting of Montpelier Board of School Commissioners held at Main Street Middle School Library. 7 pm.

Tuesday, November 7 - Main Street Middle School Principals Roundtable Budget Discussion held at Main Street Middle School Library. 6:30 pm.

Thursday, November 8 - Montpelier High School Principals Roundtable Budget Discussion held at Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Tuesday, November 14 - Union Elementary School Budget Development meeting as part of the monthly parents group meeting. Child care is available. Union Elementary School Cafeteria. 7:30 pm.

Wednesday, November 15 - Discussion concerning Main Street Middle School Reorganization. Regular Meeting of the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners. Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Thursday, November 16 - Montpelier High School Principals Roundtable Budget Discussion held at Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Friday, November 17 - Main Street Middle School Principals Roundtable Budget Discussion held at Main Street Middle School Library. 5:30 pm.

Monday, November 20 - Union Elementary School Budget Development meeting during the regular staff meeting. Union Elementary School cafeteria. 3 pm.

Wednesday, November 29 - Review of Special Services, Education Support System, Unified Sports, and Community Based Learning programs at the regular meeting of the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners. Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Wednesday, December 6 - Curriculum review of the school districts Fine Arts and Technology programs at the regular meeting of the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners. Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Wednesday, December 20 - Proposed 2001-2002 school budget presented for the first time to the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners at the regular school board meeting. Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Wednesday, January 3, 2001 - Budget Work Session and Public Hearing 1 at the regular meeting of the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners. Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Monday, January 8 - Budget Work Session and Public Hearing 2 meeting of the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners. Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Tuesday, January 9 - Budget Work Session and Public Hearing 3 meeting of the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners. Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Wednesday, January 10 - Budget Work Session and Public Hearing 4 at the regular meeting of the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners. Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Monday, January 15 - Tentative Budget Work Session and Public Hearing 5 meeting of the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners. Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Wednesday, January 17 - Budget Ratification at the regular meeting of the Montpelier Board of School Commissioners. Montpelier High School Library. 7 pm.

Thursday, January 25 - Montpelier Public School System 2001-2002 Budget presented to the Montpelier City Council. City Hall. 7 pm.

Tuesday, March 6 - City vote.
